Ake and Marcia Eriksson are special people who moved to Kershaw County in 2004.
They purchased property on Sanders Creek Road and started construction of their
world-class quarter horse ranch. Land clearing and construction of equine
facilities were completed in 2006 after two years of intense work. They visited
the Chamber shortly after their arrival and then again near the end of their ranch's
construction to join the Chamber.
The couple met in Charlotte and married. From Charlotte they migrated to Texas
to build and operate a Western-style dude ranch for a number of years. While
in Texas, the Erikssons hosted people from 36 countries on their Dude Ranch.
From Texas they relocated to Virginia with their quarter horse operations.
The move to Camden was to bring them closer to their four children and their grandchildren,
who all live in the Charlotte area.
Ake is originally from Sweden, coming to the United States some 40 years ago to
pursue business opportunities.
The atmosphere of the home is most relaxing and the hospitality is remarkable. It
is obvious that the couple have never met a stranger.
The Erikssons have always believed in their trademark of "quality over quantity"
for their guests. Even though the Texas ranch operation was limited to a maximum
of 16 guests, it was still difficult to meet every guest's requests. At this time,
with only two guest units, it should be easier to better customize the services
for returning old friends as well as new ones.
