MARKETING
Back in 1969, the following framed sign was posted in the office of an engineering manager’s office at a large corporation:
“Thre veeks ago, I could not even spel sales mun, today I is one”
Is it strange that the only profession anybody can claim, is being a marketing expert?
The importance of correct marketing for both a seller and a buyer cannot be neglected. The more a consumer knows about this, the better off he or she is. THERE IS NOT ANY MARKETING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO GET A SOUTH CAROLINA REAL ESTATE LICENSE. However, IT IS IN ORDER TO GET AN EMPLOYMENT WITH BALD EAGLE RANCH, LLC. In other words, anybody representing BALD EAGLE RANCH, LLC, REAL ESTATE DIVISION is an employee of the company rather than an independent contractor.
Marketing is a great profession. It is very satisfying to “close a deal” and experience happy people on both sides – seller/producer and buyer. For almost fifty years, I have been privileged to work in this profession. My financial reimbursement has always been secondary to the primary, ENJOYMENT. It will always remain that way.
The word “Marketing” is frequently used, but what is it?
Webster’s Dictionary gives two definitions” (1) “the act of buying or selling in a market” and (2) “all business activity involved in the moving of goods from the producer to the customer, including selling, advertising, packaging, etc.”
The above seems rather easy and straight forward, but in reality, correct marketing is quite involved. Like any other profession, there are no shortcuts, and it requires education and experience. The complexity of marketing cannot be covered by this website, but it is important to realize that today’s advanced technology does not “close” any deals. It is helpful in order to connect with consumers, but after that, the human element takes over.
Is the business of real estate handicapped in comparison to any other product? Is correct marketing of a product an advantage or disadvantage to the consumer? Does correct marketing increase or decrease the risk of fraud? Is correct marketing handicapped by laws and regulations? Do existing laws prevent greed and corruption, or is it up to the individuals to act with honesty, integrity and common sense? IS CORRECT MARKETING A SIN OR SOMETHING DIRTY? The questions go on and on.
The answers to all questions are quite involved, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this in detail, whether you are a seller or a buyer. However, due to existing State laws, with different treatment of consumers, we feel, that we can serve the public best by concentrating on selling rather than listing. Rather than promote “HORSE LOVERS DREAM” and “A MUST SEE”, WE WILL WORK HARD TO FIND THE RIGHT PLACE BASED ON THE CONSUMER’S SPECIFICATIONS. The S.C. Real Estate Commission has recommended to the legislators to legalize “Transactional Broker”. (See “LEGAL”). If and when this happens, the consumers will be treated equally, and our policy will change accordingly.
In closing, could correct marketing be defined as:
TO CREATE, NEGOTIATE AND CLOSE A TRANSACTION TO THE MUTUAL BENEFITS OF BOTH SELLER AND BUYER?
